When leaders experience the pressure to the point they feel they have to give up – something bad happens. Giving up suggests dropping something. It may mean lowering your expectations, or forcing yourself to stop caring so much. Giving up often means setting aside something you have deemed important – like your values. It is hard to stay passionate as a leader when the ‘giving up’ digs too deep into your soul. Giving up is not the right answer. Between fighting and giving up there is a zone of maturity and grace that allows a leader to yield.
